Social media and firm’s trade union representation
Abstract
The essay analyzes the possible effects of technological innovation on the collective representation of workers. If on the one hand it is possible to consider technological innovation as an ally of the traditional union because it allows greater possibilities of information and organization of workers, on the other, it can accentuate the process of fragmentation of work and weaken traditional forms of collective representation. The coalitions of digital workers have been developed outside the trade unionism. In particular, the A. examines the possibility that more direct relations between companies and workers through social networks lead to the creation of bodies representing non-union workers.
