The use of algebraic techniques to compute the time evolution of open quantum systems is illustrated in the case of two identical atoms interacting, in the dispersive regime, with a mode of the electromagnetic field held in a microwave cavity with high quality factor. The effect of the losses in the cavity is modelled by a dissipative superoperator, of Lindbladian form, corresponding to zero temperature. The purity defect and the atomic concurrence are found for an initial separable state of atoms in the same state and field in a coherent state.
