Abstract

The research carried out over the last few years in Italy on the subject of homophobia and the consequent processes of exclusion and social stigmatization have highlighted contrasting trends. The percentage of those who perceive homosexuality as ethically permissible behavior has increased, but the occurrence of homophobic and heterosexist behaviors continues to represent a risk for homosexuals. Based on these reflections, the article illustrates the results of an activity carried out within the Hermes project, aimed at offering an analysis of territorial services and regional projects to combat gender-based stigmatization processes.
