Alcuni esempi di distopia ibrida

Abstract

In the Sixties, science fiction finally breaks out in Italy, partially as a result of the driving force given to Urania series by Fruttero and Lucentini. Thus, even more ‘traditional’ writers began to venture into this genre. However, when it comes to dystopia, Italian authors – apart from a few important exceptions – systematically tend to hybridize it with fantastic, grotesque and comedy elements. In particular, love themes seem to be the constant in these hybridizations. The author of the essay aims to explore this peculiar aspect of Italian dystopia, produced by writers not strictly related to the genre, starting from two examples: Il grande ritratto by Dino Buzzati and La fantarca by Giuseppe Berto.
