The text objective is to reflect on the elements related to the teaching of History in Brazil, making it possible to discuss the constitution of the historical process of the National Textbook Program - PNLD. Furthermore, this is bibliographic research and documentary one, based on the reading and analysis of the LD decrees and authors who mention the subject. Thus, first, it was presented a discussion about the teaching of History in Brazil. Then, it was explained the historical process of textbook production and its consequences for education. Finally, it was concluded that there is still a long way for the students' training through the theoretical perspective and pedagogical didactic critique, especially when it comes to the teaching process of History in Brazil.
