This article examines the nature of the bonds between the Argentinean football world and the first two peronist governments, from 1946 to 1955. This research aims to contribute to the current academic discussion over the degree of independence of football organizations and players under the peronist regime, which was denounced by his political opponents as a military and authoritarian tyranny. During this period, professional football experienced a paradoxical situation, from expansion to crisis, after the players’ strike in 1948. By exploring the relations between the Argentinean Football Association and the peronist government, this study investigates the new policies implemented in the first peronist years and intends to identify the strategies applied by both institutions.
