Angiomyoma of the plantar foot with dystrophic calcification
Abstract
Angiomyomas (also known as angioleiomyomas or vascular leiomyomas) are rare vascular soft tissue tumors that typically present in extra-skeletal sites and have a predilection for the lower extremity. While usually a benign mass, these tumors may require surgical excision to address pain and symptomatology. We report a case of a patient presenting with a painful soft tissue mass on the plantar aspect of the right foot and discuss the rare pathology of dystrophic calcification of an angiomyoma along with the respective surgical management of en bloc resection.
