An analysis of the emergence of multimodal metaphors in the political-religious discourse

Abstract

In this research, we aim to analyse the occurrences of multimodal metaphors in political-religious interactions, considering the verbal variable and, specially, the gestural variable. From excerpts extracted of Evangelical Bench” (Frente Parlamentar Evangélica) members, we identified and categorised gesture to investigate the occurrences of gestural metaphors. The central discussion of this research involves the Metaphor Identification Guidelines for Gestures – MIG-G (CIENKI, 2016).
