The economic growth in modern society is increasingly conditioned by service development and hence to those provided by small and medium enterprises which are in strong economies the engine of development. It is demonstrated and well known that the services sector is the most dynamic sector of developed economies and it can serve as support for less developed economies, through the service sector being outlined the future economy. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the role of service enterprises in the development of Romanian economy but also in the tertiary sector. It is desired to ascertain the contribution that this sector makes to the economic growth of Romania. The economic growth in modern society is increasingly conditioned by service development for both people and businesses. These are provided by many small and medium enterprises to quality standards ever higher contributing to increase the quality of life and standard of living of the population but also to improve the quality of products and services provided by enterprises by adding them value and by increasing sales and profits. We aimed to determine the manner and extent to which services for population and businesses provided by small and medium enterprises support economic growth and for this purpose we use indicators such as the number and structure of service enterprises, investments in this sector, GDP and employed population contribution, etc.
