Modeling and experimental measurement of NaBr solubility in water, methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, and its mixtures at different temperatures

This work reports experimental data of NaBr solubility measured in water, methanol, 1-propanol, and mixed solvents water + ethanol, 1-propanol + methanol, and water + 1-propanol + methanol solvents at temperatures ranging from 283.15 K to 343.15 K. The effect of temperature on the solid–liquid-liquid equilibrium of the ternary system water + 1-propanol + NaBr was also studied, and it was found that the increase in temperature caused an increase in the immiscibility region of the system. The new solubility and phase equilibrium data measured in this work, as well as experimental information from the literature, were used to estimate the interaction parameters of the e-NRTL model, which combines the original Electrolyte Nonrandom Two-Liquid (NRTL) with a Pitzer–Debye–Huckel expression to consider the long-range interactions. Although the model overestimated the size of the liquid-liquid equilibrium regions for the water + 1-propanol + NaBr system, it adequately fit all the experimental solubility data.
