NUANCES DA CURADORIA: promovendo educação em direitos nas ILPI’S sem fins lucrativos de Salvador-BA

Abstract

The present article is a report of the ongoing action research from the Public Defender of the State of Bahia, which object is to problematize the degree of social protection offered to elderly people, interdicted, without family reference, living in Long-Term Institutions for the Elderly (ILPI’s) , in the city of Salvador/ BA. For that, technical visits are being carried out in loco, supported by semi-structured interviews with the managers and residents of the ILPI’s. The systematization of data points to the predominance of capital refilanthropization, weakening of control and social participation, ratifying the social phenomenon of the feminization of old age, as well as evidence of the existence of exposure of residents to situations of violations of rights and specific violence perpetrated against the institutionalized elderly.
