The heritage of literary tradition operates in Andrea Zanzotto’s poetry through a dialogue between imitation and parody. What originates from this dialectics is the result of a double gesture, which proceeds “with Petrach on one hand and Dante on the other”, as the author declared in an interview of 1984. This article examines the various forms of Dante’s presence in Zanzotto, from lexical to conceptual and epistemological uses.
