The National Office of Mineral Resources of Cuba keeps the archives that contain the unpublished and not systematized information of the small gold mining works carried out during the neocolonial stage in the central part of the Sierra Maestra. The processing of this information has revealed existence of dozens of important mining preserves with hundreds of mining concessions, from which significant amounts of copper, gold and silver were extracted; and has provided new data on the types of mineralization and their quality that constitute direct indexes to explore. These prospects have a great interest in the current economic context, so their perspectives must be evaluated.
