Fifty years of a journal constitute a historical significance, especially if it is a scientific dissemination document, which becomes a necessity for the improvement of the culture of health professionals, not only those dedicated to the important branch of medicine. Stomatological sciences, but for all those who have the complex responsibility of promoting health and preventing or protecting individuals from diseases. The magazine has been improving its accessibility and national and international visibility, based on the benefits provided by the new information and communication technologies, which has led readers of all professions to read it, this demonstrates the rigor in its development and the quality of the works exhibited therein. The content of this edition is composed of current topics that range from assessments for the comprehensive understanding of stomatology, historical aspects of oral health care and the ethics that their procedures require, the approach to oral health morbidity, within this, cancer, the health problem that occupies the first place in mortality in Cuba, to clear definitions regarding the need for integration of stomatological services as a way of development in care processes. The social determination of oral health, and the role of health promotion and community participation and intersectoriality are treated in a revealing manner, which makes it possible to have a journal that integrates in a balanced manner the field of public health in all its forms. The above is a science constituted because oral health is not generated spontaneously, nor is it achieved only with stomatological services, but requires conscious, organized, and planned participation-action of the entire population and sectors of society. For this reason and many others that could be highlighted, this fiftieth magazine contributes with the imperative need to improve knowledge about oral problems, their causes, methods of prevention, and the development of self-responsibility in people, families, community and its sectors, to incorporate habits and conducts that favor it. This body of scientific dissemination of the Cuban Society of Stomatology, has represented in these fifty years that celebrates, an honor for the Cuban health system, unique in its kind, which promotes health and wellbeing in a comprehensive and integrated manner.
