Drugs of “new wave” as a factor in changing the drug situation in Russia

Abstract

The article discusses the mechanism of transformation of cause-and-effect complex that entailed the transition to the “new” drugs and triggered a new wave of drug consumption. New trends in drug situation inRussiahave been revealed. The research has shown that they had no analogues in the study of drug abuse in modernRussia. Relatively new factors explaining involvement in consumption of “new drugs” have been found. One of these factors is the contradiction between the declared personal attitudes to health (“for a healthy way of life”) and the real drug behavior (use of “safe”, “light” drugs). It was revealed the absence of an unambiguous negative attitude to drugs. Neutral position in understanding the harm of drugs and toxic substances is palpable among all groups of young people. It is shown that in modern Russian conditions, drug use fits into the general context of human life.
