Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is related to obesity, hyperinsulinemia, impaired glucose toler-ance, hyperandrogenism, chronic inflammatory response, dyslipidemia and hypertension. PCOS is critically associated with oxidative stress (OS), which is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD). This article reviews the mechanisms by which OS increases the risk of CVD in PCOS and the possibility of preventing CVD in PCOS patients by blocking the pathway of reactive oxygen species (ROS) production.
