Collective author as an object of cataloging work and authority control

Abstract

Stating the Subject of the Study is a collective author as an object of cataloging and authoritative works. Problem Statement. Traditional authoritative work is a component of cataloging, which requires considering this relationship as a model of interconnected metadata. The bibliographic aspect of the concept of collective author and features of display of the corresponding unified access points in authoritative records of the authoritative file of names of collectives (AF "СA") with support of their urgency are considered. Stating the Aim of the Study is to indicate the need for a harmonized methodology for formulating unified access points in both authoritative and bibliographic records. Research methodology of solving this problem is the unification of the formation and maintenance of AF "СA", which is provided by creating a single system of links with appropriate explanations on the chronology of creation and change of names. Results of the Study can be considered the revealed uniformity of the rules of structuring the name of the organization ("CA") in the authoritative and bibliographic records. Novelty, Originality of this problem is the comparison of the features of the collective author in the cataloging and authoritative environments. The practical significance of this topic is to improve the creation of an authoritative file of names of organizations (AF "CA") to ensure the quality of cataloging documents issued by scientific institutions and organizations, with the ability to effectively search the electronic catalog of NBUV and other national and international information arrays.
