Through an analysis of some series interrupted before completion, I propose a discussion about TV shows that died before the end. The emotion that it arouses in the spectator could be compared to the experience of a breakup or of a loss. Distinguishing by a quick phenomenology of our affects series that are leaving us, series that we are leaving and series that we are accompagnying until the very end, I argue that the experience of a TV series amateur is similar to that of a sentimental relationship, constantly threatened by the possibility of the death of the other, and I make the proposition that our empathy for TV series characters is actually based on our empathy for the series itself, that promises us endlessness, though exposing itself episode after episode and season after season to the infinite through exposure episode after episode and season after season to a sudden end.
