Abstract

Um mundo colonial mestiço: as representações familiares oitocentistas na iconografia de Jean Baptista Debret. Resumo: O trabalho busca demonstrar como a representação iconografia sobre família na obra de Jean Baptista Debret reflete um mundo mestiçado fruto dos processos de mundialização ocorridos na America Portuguesa desde a chegada dos europeus até o século XIX. Assim, valoriza-se o caráter polissêmico sobre o olhar de Debret, uma vez que as iconografias referentes à família trazem símbolos visíveis e invisíveis, podendo ser confrontados com as fontes cartoriais do período e serem lidos e interpretados de modos diferentes, mas em diálogo com a obra na temporalidade de sua produção. Abstract: The work seeks to demonstrate how the representation of iconography about family in the work of Jean Baptista Debret reflects a world of mixed fruit resulting from the processes of globalization that have taken place in Portuguese America since the arrival of Europeans until the 19th century. Thus, the polysemic character is valued over Debret's gaze, since the iconographies referring to the family bring visible and invisible symbols, being able to be confronted with the notary sources of the period and to be read and interpreted in different ways, but in dialogue with the work in the temporality of its production.
