« La place des femmes dans les arts : réflexions sur les exigences de tout temps contradictoires entre sens de l’humanité et art » de Dorothy Richardson

Abstract

A translation (together with notes) of an essay by Dorothy Richardson first published in 1925. The short title of the essay is “Women in the Arts”. The translation is followed by a commentary in which I try to show that the essay anticipates some of the ideas that Linda Nochlin and Griselda Pollock developed when they explained and analysed the hegemony and the persistence of the male canon.
