Vozes dissonantes: os livros rejeitados dos Concursos de Literatura Colonial (1926-1933)
Abstract
Organized between 1926 and 1974, the Portuguese Colonial Literature Competitions aimed to build a colonial library that could serve as colonial propaganda and awakening a taste for colonial causes in young people. In this article, we analyze three works entered in competitions, between 1926 and 1933, which were disqualified, according to the competition minutes, for not serving as colonial propaganda. We focus on Facêtas d’Angola (1926), Os Aventureiros da Selva (1929), and Na Costa d’África (1933), aiming to understand their specific disqualification motivations.
