In Search of a Definition For the History of Economic Thought
Abstract
This note discusses some ideas in regards to the character, method, and identityof historians of economic thought. They may be considered “generalist” economists, whohold knowledge of general theories. This knowledge allows them to establish linksbetween different fields of specialization in economic, and the reconciliation with thecontemporary economics. Therefore, historians of economic thought have a precise andpermanent position within the economicsdiscipline.
