This special edition of Fórum Linguístico aims to discuss how the historical-cultural perspective, with respect to Vygotskian thinking, can be relevant for professionals working with school education in language, whether as an object of teaching or as an object of research, at different levels of schooling. The relevance of this discussion stems from the current moment in history in which the epistemic approach is called into question, raising complex queries about the role of school education.
