Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), is sometimes complicated by the rare fatal syndrome, Thrombotic thrombocyto-penic purpura (TTP), but the occurrence of TTP as the initial manifestation of SLE is very rare. Since they have similar-ities in some features, the differentiation of TTP from SLE may be missed. SLE patients are also more prone to throm-botic events. Here we report a case with TTP and deep vein thrombosis as the presenting symptoms of SLE.
