Exploring the architectural design powers with the aid of neuroscience (little architect’s adventure)
Abstract
Neuroscience, with the aid of new technologies, is opening exciting doors to the essence of brain; showing that the built environment plays an important role in the physical and emotional health of its users , widening up for children to affect their learning and development processes. This research sought to give architects an exploration of the architectural design’ latent powers, through an authentic experiment, carried out to assess the effect the different design decisions have on children’s physiological and psychological states, hence on their brain’s development.Correspondingly, the core purpose of smart cities is ensuring the creation of inclusive environments that guarantee the individuals wellbeing. The research achieved progress by reflecting on a children sample examining different architectural alternatives through virtual reality, while their physiological and emotional states were monitored. This research shed light on the potentials found in the involvement of the physiological, psychological measures in assisting the architectural design.
