DIABETIC FOOT: A SERIOUS COMPLICATION OF DIABETES

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a major public health problem with a growing prevalence throughout the world. It is estimated that it will increase to 642 million of the population in 2040. Probably, the increase in the prevalence of DM will be accompanied by an increase in its complications and that these will cause an increase in morbidity, mortality and expenditure in health due to the need for specialized care.
