Amberlyst A21 catalyzed Morita-Baylis-Hillman reaction
Abstract
Amberlyst A21 ion exchange resin was used as a recyclable catalyst for the Morita-Baylis-Hillman reaction. The use of Amberlyst A21 as heterogeneous catalyst provided Morita-Baylis-Hillman adducts in excellent yields (up to 98%) in propanol with relatively shorter reaction times at room temperature. Besides, Amberlyst A21 can be readily recovered and reused eight times without significant loss of catalytic activity.
