Fracture Load Determination for the Structural Elements of Trucks Suspensions when Interacting with Anti-Ram Devices
Abstract
The actual guidelines for strength factors determination of the mostly loaded elements of truck front suspensions leaf springs are considered on the basis of computer modeling of fracture processes and material mechanical properties research. The comparison of simulation data with the results of traditional calculation and full-scale testing of leaf spring fragments is performed. The difference between the experimental values of fracture loads with the values obtained by computer simulation does not exceed 3.6 %. Fracture loads obtained using traditional dependencies are underestimated with respect to experimental values up to 2 times. This is due to the underlying assumptions aimed at the safety reserve of the structure. The proposed guidelines of leaf springs strength determination are used for the calculation of acting loads in the road blockers designing process.
