Türkiye’de Ekonomik Sorun Odaklı Sosyal Yardım Ağları Üzerine Bir Araştırma(A Research on Economic Problem Focused Social Help Networks in Turkey)

Abstract

In this research, it has been evaluated how the economic-oriented social assistance networks are shaped in Turkey and which social assistance networks are preferred.. A total of 440 participants participated in the study via online forms and expressed their opinions. While the participants stated that they consider economic cooperation as a conscientious responsibility (87%), they stated that they were under the influence of the family while determining the helping behavior (30%). Participants stated that they would first turn to their families when they need financial support (66%), and similarly, they would help their families first (78%). In the study, the rate of participants (0.9%) who stated that they would provide economic assistance to religious institutions and groups and that they would receive assistance from these communities (7.7%) was quite low. This study is important in terms of showing that the economic aid networks in Turkish society are family-centered and religious groups or institutions are not preferred in the context of economic aid networks. Recommendations and limitations for future studies are discussed.
