The “Media” Invention of the Islam-Christianity Conflict in Lucas de Iranzo’s Chronicle
Abstract
The chronicle by Lucas de Iranzo (Castile 15th century) allows us to study another dimension of the frontier war waged by Christianity against Islam: the war of discourses. The media strategies used are aimed at reinforcing the sense of identity belonging and are indeed part and parcel of the effort and the culture of war. This identity marketing, which is a result of political actors, seems inseparable from the territorial control.
