THE INFLUENCE OF ATMOSPHERIC CIRCULATION, SHAPE AND CATCHMENT AREA POSITION ON THE AMPLITUDE AND EFFECTS OF THE AUGUST 2005 FLASH-FLOOD (OZANA AND CRACĂU RIVERS)

Abstract

This paper have as object of study the influence of the Cracău and Ozana watersheds shape and position (relation to the range of Stânişoara Mountains), on the amplitude and effects of the August 2005 flash-flood. Another important aspect is the influence and particularities of the atmospheric circulation on the rainfall quantities in the two basins, in the 17th to 20th of August period. Moreover, this study takes into consideration the characteristics of the flood-related elements and it also quantifies the damages produced by the flood itself.
