The complete mitochondrial genome of an ampithoid amphipod, Pleonexes koreana, was sequenced for the first time. The total mitogenome length of P. koreana was 14,645 bp with 13 protein-coding genes, two rRNA genes, and 22 tRNA genes. Reconstruction of a phylogenetic tree confirmed that P. koreana belonged to the families Caprellidae in the same clade and to the suborder Senticaudata within Amphipoda. This is the first recorded complete mitochondrial genome sequence of the genus Pleonexes.
