Os escritos autobiográficos de Josef Mengele
Abstract
O artigo analisa textos autobiográficos que Josef Mengele escreveu durante os anos em que passou escondido em vários lugares no Estado de São Paulo. O material de cerca de 500 páginas datilografadas é inédito e trata dos primeiros anos da infância, o estudo de medicina nos anos 1930, a fase em que trabalhou sob nome falso como camponês na Bavária durante os primeiros anos do pós-guerra, assim como o início da fuga da Alemanha, mas não há referências aos anos nos quais Mengele realizou seus experimentos brutais com seres humanos no campo de concentração Auschwitz. Contudo, os textos, ligeiramente ficcionalizados, transmitem uma impressão dessa pessoa vaidosa que manteve suas posições políticas sem remorsos e que, ao que parece, até quis convencer seu filho - para o qual provavelmente os textos foram escritos -, por meio de sua narrativa impregnada de ideologia. Em certos trechos, porém, surge, de forma velada e perversa, a consciência dos seus atos desumanos, apresentando o próprio perpetrador no papel da vítima.This article analizes autobiographical texts written by Josef Mengele during the years which he spent hidden in different places in the state of São Paulo. The material of about 500 pages in typoscript remains unpublished and deals with the first childhood years, the study of medicine in the Thirties, the imediate post-war period, when he worked under false name as a peasant in Bavaria and the beginning of his escape from Germany, but there is no reference to his brutal experiments with human beings in Auschwitz. Nevertheless, the slightly fictionalized texts provide some insight to this self-opionated person who kept the political positions without any sense of guilt and apparently even tried to convince his son - for whom the texts probably were written - by his ideologically saturated narrative. In certain passages, however, appears a kind of conscience of his inhuman acts, in disguised and perverse form, representing the very perpetrator in the roll of the victim.
