1,2,3,3-Tetramethyl-7-nitro-3,4-dihydroisoquinolinium tetrafluoroborate

Abstract

The title salt, C13H17N2O2+·BF4−, was prepared by the methylation of the imine with Meerwein salt in dichloromethane. The asymmetric unit comprises a 1,3,3-trimethyl-7-nitro-3,4-dihydroisoquinolinium cation and a tetrafluoroborate anion. The coordination around the boron atom in the tetrafluoroborate anion is tetrahedral. The heterocyclic ring adopts a half-chair conformation. The crystal packing is governed by means of C—H...F contacts, which lead to the formation of a three-dimensional network.
