ARE THE THOUGHTS OF BERNARDO O’HIGGINS STILL IN FORCE IN THE CHILEAN BICENTENNIAL?

Abstract

This article give us a vision of one of our founding fathers, Bernardo O’Higgins Riquelme, who lead the rst years of the government of the new Chilean Republic, as well as on the fact that his thoughts and ideas are still in force. Most of his ideas were executed during his government, others were only made known or were developed by others throughout these 200 years of independence, and some of them are still pending. Through this article the author pretends both, to demonstrate the modern and wise thought of O’Higgins during his government, and to re ect on the force of his thought and his ideas that are still not thoroughly developed.
