Building vocabulary has always been a subject of interest for linguists as reflecting material and spiritual culture of the people. Due to changes in the construction technology by modernization of the building material disappears from use archaic vocabulary of traditional building. In the thematic group structure of building vocabulary of Boiko dialect we distinguish lexical-semantic subgroups: “names of building materials” (building materials of natural origin, products made of natural material, industrial materials); “names of building processes”; “names of builders”; “names of buildings and their structural parts” (names of dwellings, outbuildings, names of facilities for animals); “names of small architectural constructions”. The purpose of article is to investigate lexical-semantic group of dwellings’ names in the Boiko dialect, set their semantic implementation and find links with other dialects of Ukrainian language. Basic methods of analysis are descriptive and comparable. The analysis has shown the richness of lexical-semantic group of dwellings’ names in the Boiko dialect. Most Boiko names that are recorded in lexicographical sources are common in other dialects of Ukrainian language and also function in literary language. In the lexical-semantic groups of dwellings’ names dominate the specific ones. In the minority are borrowed lexemes. We assume that borrowings from German reach the Boiko dialect through Polish. The question of building vocabulary systematic description of Boiko dialect as a lexical dialect segment requires further thorough investigation.
