Transformation peculiarities of cognitive processes and self-actualization of the specialists of the extreme activity profile after counseling psychology
Abstract
The article presents the analysis of the influence of counseling process on cognitive processes and self-actualization of the specialists of the extreme activity profile. It is stated that there is a specificity of providing psychological support to this type of specialists, which demands to develop some special approaches and to use special strategy: building trust, a secure relationship, building psychological resources, providing opportunities for reactions to traumas, awareness of traumatic experience; integration of traumatized part of an individual with a holistic individual; reforming the system of beliefs and values; understanding of past events, finding out the positive aspects of the event; development of a new model of behavior, social adaptation, building a new future. The research showed that the locus of control over failures, troubles, emotional disorders, his/her own biography and personal development has been changed after counseling process; the level of perfectionism has decreased, sense of harmony and completeness in life has increased, the number of internal contradictions and conflicts has decreased; self-awareness of his/her own potential and resources contributing to self-actualization has taken place, emotional tone has improved; satisfaction with family relationships, with colleagues, and other people has increased; personality constructs has also increased, there are values that are inherent to the person, who are achieving self-actualization.
