Abstract
The purpose of the article is to carry out a historical-bibliographic andcompositional-content analysis of the lifetime editions of the works of the historian ofstate institutions of the Hetmanship and Ukrainian customary law Irynarkh YuvenalovichCherkaskyi. These editions are currently kept in the collection fund "Departments I-XV" of the library of the Kyiv University of St. Volodymyr in the Department ofLibrary Historical Collections of Institute of Book Studies, V. I. Vernadskyi NationalLibrary of Ukraine. Such works of the scientist as "Civil (group) court in Ukraine-Rusof the 16th-18th centuries" were included in the consideration, "Judicial Reforms ofHetman K. G. Razumovsky", "Report of I. Yu. Cherkaskyi on a business trip toChernihiv in August 1926", "Notice of I. Yu. Cherkaskyi on a business trip to Kharkivin 1927. Organization and Legal Concession of Cossack Courts in the Hetman Region(theses)" and others. The methodology of the work is based on the application ofgeneral historical methods, namely, comparative-historical and general-scientific methodsof analysis and synthesis. The scientific novelty is that, for the first time, a thoroughhistorical and bibliographic analysis of the lifetime publications of the historian of lawI. Yu. Cherkaskyi, which are stored in the historical and cultural fund "Departments I XV" of the library of the Kyiv University of St. Volodymyr" of the Department ofLibrary Historical Collections of Institute of Book Studies, V. I. Vernadskyi NationalLibrary of Ukraine, have been performed. It has been proven that all the scientificworks of I. Yu. Cherkaskyi available in the fund have seals, double ciphers, and author'sgift inscriptions to the All-People's Library of Ukraine, and almost all the works of thescientist were published in the printed edition of the scientific center for the study of the history of law in the territory of Ukraine, which existed in 1919-30 years within theframework of the Socioeconomic Department of the All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciencesunder the title "Proceedings of the commission for the study of the history of western Rus and Ukrainian law". Conclusions. All available scientific works of the legal historianI. Yu. Cherkasky have an individual character, a scientific vision of problems andhistory, and contain calls for the revival of Ukrainian historical traditions in customarylaw. And since these calls were made in the conditions of the Soviet power, which wascreating its own historical concept, where there was practically no place for nationalidentity, it eventually led to a scientific and physical destruction of the scientist. Itshould be noted that the scientist donated all his works to the library of the All Ukrainian Academy of Sciences to replenish the "university department", as theinscriptions found on the books are evidence.
