Lost or Discarded Fishing Gear Pada Diversitas Penyu di Laut Indonesia
Abstract
The impact of Abandoned, Lost or Discarded Fishing Gear (ALDFG) on the population and diversity of turtles in Indonesia is very significant. The turtle population has experienced a drastic decline in the last few decades, and ALDFG is one of the main causes of this decline, along with habitat loss, poaching, and climate change that occur in Indonesian waters. This study aims to analyze some of the problems that are the questions, namely why Abandoned, Lost or Discarded Fishing Gear (ALDFG) can be a threat to the Biodiversity of Turtles in Indonesia and how efforts can be made to overcome the unknown threats due to Abandoned, Lost or Discarded Fishing Gear (ALDFG). Through the method of legal document analysis by considering several Regulations in Indonesia related to Environmental Law with the statutory approach and conceptual approach methods that provide perspectives and solutions to problems in legal analysis based on views and doctrines in legal science. The results show that there is a need for protection efforts to prevent the occurrence of things that we cannot predict, namely by the existence of legal socialization related to Fishing Gear (API) that is safe and how to use it properly for the community and especially fishermen in Indonesia.
