The veil, the appearance and something too big. Commentary on the paragraphs 3 and 4 from The birth of tragedy
Abstract
Nietzsche's philosophy indicates something too large which makes every vital decision painful. This is the tragic nature of existence, to which understanding gets nothing. However Art takes this to want and to suffer at the same time. That is the reason why it is a sublime experience. Sublime because it is impossible: impossible to show the totality, to show it all the time or to show all at the same time. If that experience is impossible, only the veil that covers can be showed through Art. This Art finds also paradoxically joy in destruction and it is an illusion that extends a veil of beauty over what is too large
