In disciplining that health is a fundamental social right, the Federal Constitution of 1988 established that the public power should guarantee the right to health with actions of promotion, protection and recovery. Excellence in health management is one of the basic assumptions for the realization of the dignity of the human person. In this sense, the objective of the study is to analyze the public policy of hospital accreditation as a mechanism for qualification of the Unified Health System, enabling adequate care to the population.
