The article is devoted to the problem of adaptive approach to the formation and development of the professional competence of the teacher in the process of training under the programs ofprofessional retraining. We proceeded from the fact that the formation of professional competence, the successful passage of levels and stages of professional development is determined by the introduction of an adaptive approach to the implementation of training and retraining programs. Adaptive approach ensures successful professional adaptation of the teacher, contributes to its development and achievement of creative success in educational and labor activities. We believe that at the present time, the adaptive approach as a means of professional-personal self-development of the teacher in conditions of additional vocational education remains still little researched and requires further study.
