Abstract

In 1950, João Cabral de Melo Neto published an essay entitled Joan Miró, in which an interpretation about the work of the Spanish painter compatible with his principles of composition is developed. With the purpose of bringing poetry and painting together, that essay will serve as a reading instrumental for a poem of the same name by Murilo Mendes and for João Cabral’s other poem under the title “O sim contra o sim”, which also deals with the work of the Catalan painter and was collected in the book Serial (1961). As this poem has changed with the reprints, a brief comparison between the original publication and their subsequent Editions will be made, whose current circulation gives it greater legitimacy, for being the latest published in life by the author.
