NETWORKS AND FETISHES IN CONTEMPORARY ART: A WHEEL SPINNING IN VAIN
Abstract
This essay aims to examine the value criteria that sustains the production, circulation and consumption of contemporary arts works, considering their insertion in communication networks and media devices. Using a genealogical perspective, this article investigates the ways in which these criteria are expressed in other historical and cultural contexts, in order to identify the peculiarities of the current configuration. Among the clues uncovered throughout the text, we highlight the ideas of network and fetish-subject.
