Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is one of the most common alopecia with complex pathogenesis. At present, studies on the mechanisms of AGA are still focused on the overreaction of the body to androgen and the influence of genetic factors. In addition, hair growth cycle, scalp hemorheology and lifestyle also play an important role in the pathogenesis of AGA. In this paper, we review the etiology of AGA and the progress in its pathogenesis, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for therapeutic research.
