A NÃO FISCALIZAÇÃO DOS ÓRGÃOS GOVERNAMENTAIS E A TRAGÉDIA DA SAMARCO

Abstract

In thisstudy, we approached the system of supervision of government agencies in the face of the tragedy that occurred on November 5, 2015 in Minas Gerais. The disaster struck when the Samarco mining company broke the Fundão dam structure, when about sixty-two million tons of mud, tailings from iron ore mining, completely destroyed the Bento Rodrigues district in Mariana, also affecting manyother cities. There are important environmental laws and agencies to oversee mining companies, but there is a lack of better management of public money for social and environmental purposes and the proper functioning of the control bodies.
