This paper examines some early editions of Calderón’s play Darlo todo y no dar nada, with a view to evaluating their relationship and clarifying a number of more general issues with regard to the textual transmission of Calderón’s comedias. Among these issues are the relationship between the two editions of the unauthorized Quinta parte de comedias; the origin of the texts they contain; luxury sueltas and their relation with palace performances; and the modus operandi of Juan de Vera Tassis, Calderón’s posthumous editor.
