Entre celebrações do passado e questionamentos do presente – novas perspectivas interpretativas sobre a Independência do Brasil

Abstract

The main objective of the article is to expose new interpretative perspectives on the theme of Brazilian Independence, constructed by a significant list of studies produced since the 1980s. These studies opened innovative theoretical paths and contributed to modify the traditional version of Independence as a conflict of a colonial, conservative nature and carried out by restricted social sectors.
