COMPARATIVE STUDY ON VO2MAX EVALUATION THROUGH THE ERGOSPIROMETRY METHOD USING COSMED EQUIPMENT FITMATE PRO IN A SPECIFIC ERGOMETER TEST AND VO2MAX EVALUATION USING ASTRAND-RYHMING TEST FOR FEMALE ROWERS
Abstract
VO2max is an excellent indicator of performance in endurance efforts such as rowing and evaluating it can be both a predictor of the level that could be reached in the competition and especially an effective benchmark in planning volume and intensity in the training process. The study aims to determine whether there are differences in VO2max values between the ergospirometry evaluation method using Cosmed Pro FitMate equipment in a specific ergometer test and VO2max evaluation using the Astrand-Ryhming test. Eight girls, rowers of the National Olympic Junior Training Center in Iasi, aged between 14 and 17 years, went through two tests to assess VO2max: the ergospirometry method using the Cosmed equipment FitMate Pro in a specific ergometer test and VO2max evaluation using the Astrand-Ryhming test. The recorded results indicate statistically significant differences between the two assessments (49,98 ml.kg-1.min-1 for the ergospirometry method and 40,39 ml.kg-1.min-1 in the Astrand-Ryhming test, p <0, 0001).
