Public-Private Partnership (PPP) presents modern cooperation form between public and private sector globally, as well as in Croatia. The aim of this paper is to contribute to the better understanding of the concept of the partnership and also to point on numerous forms and benefi ts of the PPP. The authors puts emphasis on the analysis of the reasons which leads to the implementation of the PPP, the main tasks which PPP has to achieve, different structures of the PPP models and advantages and constraints of the PPP. Furthermore, the paper deals with differences between privatisation, as an ownership transfer form from public to private sector, and PPP as a modern style of private sector involvement in the process of the public services accomplishment, the usage of the entrepreneurial spirit of the private sector, and also private sector ability to assume businesses liabilities and risks. The realisation of the recreational-business complex in Split was used as an example to stress numerous benefi ts which the practise of the DBFOOT model, as an attractive business model under PPP, can accomplish to the local development.
